Aaron Swan and Associates performed Soil Investigation and collected samples along the Route Length and at some predetermined Stock Pile Locations, the test locations was determined in the field by visual soil classification. Tests were performed in the field and in the ASA Central Laboratory. Tests Included:

1. Soil Classification (AASHTO M-145)

2. Standard Penetration = Split Spoon (ASTM D1586)

3. Auger Borings (ASTM D1457)

4. California Bearing Ratio (AASHTO T-193)

5. In-Place Moisture and Density (various ASSHTO Methods)

6. Moisture Density Relation (ASSHTO T-99)

7. Sieve Analysis/Gradation (AASHTO T-11 & T-27)

8. Liquid Limit and Plastic Index (AASHTO T-89 & T-90)

The ASA Soil Investigation concludes with a detailed report, the second phase includes the pavement design and typical sections for grading and surfacing.
