YEAR COMPLETED - PROFESSIONAL SERVICES:  1999
YEAR COMPLETED - CONSTRUCTION:  ONGOING
PROJECT OWNER: OGLALA SIOUX TRIBE

The Mni Wiconi Pipeline consists of: water treatment plant, several water storage reservoirs both ground and elevated, several pumpstations, river crossings both buried and bridge structure, and approximately 400 miles of mostly 26-inch diameter welded steel water transmission pipeline with some minor PVC branch transmission Pipelines.

Aaron Swan and Associates (ASA) has provided the surveying, construction field engineering and material testing services on phases I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and XII.

Aaron Swan and Associates has provided the surveying, construction field engineering and material testing services on Phase VIII (Kadoka South), which includes a river crossing on the White River south of Kadoka. The surveying consists of establishing control using conventional total station and GPS. The project has a project coordinate system which runs from the Fort Pierre water treatment plant to the projects terminus on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, this coordinate system is a modified state plane system. Once the project control has been set ASA is required to survey the proposed alignment and profile a ROW strip, this information is then provided to the "Design Engineers" for their approval. After approval ASA makes any required adjustments in the alignment and provides the ROW staking and the construction staking from the pipe manufactures' "lay-sheets" and the design grade lines.

In addition to the surveying services ASA is providing the "Field Engineering" which consists of preparing the USEPA and SDDENR surface water discharge permit, erosion control plans, traffic control plans and material testing.
